Question:

During Nek-kum-ma ordination and while practicing the Eight Precepts, will using fragrance free deodorants made from Patchouli and Camphor be considered as breaking any of the Precepts?

Answer:

Are you coming to the temple to practice the Precepts or deal with your body odor? In following the Precepts, one gradually develops naturally sweet scent without using any perfume. But to be at that level, you have to continuously practice the Precepts for the rest of your life, not just from time to time.  More than that, the practice of these Precepts means a consideration to self and others which is contributing to no harm to self and others, no nightmare, being loved by others and angels,  having aromatic body scent, and always having good conscience.
